Queen Victoria was crowned on the death of William IV in 1837 and she died in 1901. It was a reign of tremendous change in the lives of all Britons. During this time Britain became the most powerful country in the world with the largest empire that had ever existed. Britain ruled one fifth of the world´s surface and one quarter of the people.
